Top pick: #2 (OH NEWMAN) (7-5) - He rallied to finish second here at this level going 5.5-furlongs April 8th. He was making his local debut off a 100-day layoff and had a troubled start that afternoon. He's worked fast since and believe he only fear the horse to his right in the gate (#3 Candy Ruby).
2nd pick: #3 (Candy Ruby) (8-5) - Debuting colt has some sharp works on view and runs for the leading trainer at this meet (Bob Diodoro). This colt by 'Candy Ride' is bred for early speed and the barn wins at a 23% rate first out. The main danger.
3rd pick: #4 (Real Windy) (15-1) - He showed some speed while racing wide before weakening to finish a distant fourth here at this level and distance April. It was his first since early July at Canterbury Park and he should move forward enough to get a share at a big price.
4th pick: #6 (J R Jellybean) (5-2) - Lightly-raced Arizona bred finished second of four, beaten just under a length when debuting here at this level on March 1st. However, he showed nothing as the favorite in his follow up start three weeks later. Tough call, but believe the race for the top prize is between 'Newman' and 'Ruby.'
