Bet this race at Diamond SportsTop pick: #5 (HYMN'S GIRL) (2-1) - She's one of two entered by leading trainer Bob Diodoro and the pair race uncoupled. The probable favorite, she's been freshened up since Dec 14 when she missed by a 'neck' here racing at this level in a contest that was switched off the turf. Bred for the grass by 'Artie Schiller', filly has early speed. is working steadily, and gets a slight edge over her barn-mate.
2nd pick: #8 (She Spends My Lute) (5-2) - The second of the Diodoro fillies, she was a bit more than a length behind 'Hymn's Girl' on the dirt Dec 14. One-run type is working well and is racing on the grass for the first time. Daughter of 'Midnight Lute' gives trainer Diodoro a strong hand in today's opener.
3rd pick: #2 (Sierrastorm) (12-1) - Long shot ships in from Golden gate Fields. Speed/stalker has a new trainer in Angel Silva that is 22% with new arrivals, and finished a pace-setting third last September in her only previous grass race. Can grab a share at a big price.
4th pick: #6 (Hennessy Storm) (6-1) - Lightly-raced filly finished a non-threatening fourth when behind both 'Hymn's Girl' and 'She Spends My Lute' here on the dirt Dec 14. She had missed by less than a length in her previous start racing at this level and distance on the grass. Stretch runner will need some pace help for anything more than a minor award.
