Hard-hitter has won almost $3M, is working fast, and has a nice record at this distance at 11-2-2-3. One of two entered by trainer Bill Mott and I like this 7-year-old's chances.
2nd pick: #5 (Paynter) (2-1) - With the scratch of "Fort Larned," this lightly-raced and talented colt becomes dangerous with his early speed. Working fast at Del Mar before heading here n a win candidate.
3rd pick: #2 (Successful Dan) (5-2) - He rallied from far back to just miss here on Aug. 3 in the "Whitney" stakes (G1). He has more speed than he showed that day and should be involved from start to finis.
4th pick: #1 (Ron the Greek) (8-1) - With the "off" going today this fast finisher must be left in the mix based on his fine record on wet tracks (6-3-1-1). The fatser the pace, the better his chances.
