Top pick: #3 (WILLY BEAMIN) - Multiple New York-bred stakes winner finished a disappointing second here as a heavy favorite on Saturday and trainer Rick Dutrow brings him back quickly and cuts him back in distance. That same move led to a win at Saratoga on Sept. 1 in the Forego Stakes (G1). He's 2-for-2 on this surface, and I like his chances if he goes.
2nd pick: #1 (This Ones for Phil) - He's also trained by Rick Dutrow and the two barnmates race uncoupled. Speedy veteran has an outstanding record at this distance (12-7-2-1). Working steadily for his first race since May 10th, he's won off of breaks in the past, draws the rail, and Dominguez is aloft.
3rd pick: #5 (Poseidon's Warrior) - Speedy Maryland-bred chased and tired at Santa Anita in the Breeders' Cup Sprint (G1)on Nov. 3, but had been razor sharp in his previous pair. Professional at this trip (14-6-2-2) and is a major player if the 6,000 miles he just travelled didn't take a toll.
