Top pick: #8 (BONESPRINGS) (9-2) - Home bred by "Birdstone" has been competitive in three straight here on the turf. One-run type finished second here at this level going a mile on Feb. 1. In shape and the extra 1/16th he travels today is in his favor. Gets a slight edge, but make sure you reverse your bets with him.
2nd pick: #6 (Bob and Jim) (5-1) - Veteran maiden ships from New York where he showed nothing in a pair of dirt races. He's always been better on the grass and has races in his past that will beat these if repeatable. A very strong win candidate.
3rd pick: #4 (Ransom Paid) (10-1) - Away for almost four months, he raced evenly last out in his second back from the layoff. Gelding was only three back of "Bonesprings" that day and he's from the dangerous barn of Jamie Ness.
4th pick: #9 (Fehsenfeld) (3-1) - He's finished second in all three starts, one in a dirt sprint and the latest pair here on the grass. However, he's been away since March 19th of last year and will need to be at his sharpest to contend for the win. He's run well "fresh" in the past and must be left in the mix.
5th pick: #5 (Madly May) (8-1) - Gelding looks like the main speed. He ships in from Gulfstream where he was only beaten 1 1/2 lengths racing for a $20K tag going a mile just two weeks ago. If left alone in the early stages he will be tough at a square price.
