Bet this race at Diamond SportsTop pick: #8 (U S ARMY CORP) (2-1) - This home-bred son of 'War Front' missed by a 'head' here at this level and distance April 11 in his first back after spending five months on the sidelines. Competitive in three starts last year on the NYRA circuit, this 3yo is from the barn of 'Hall of Fame' trainer 'Shug' McGaughey, who is seven for 16 (44%) at this meet. This colt will be hard to beat with a trouble-free trip.
2nd pick: #6 (Fit for a King) (8-1) - Godolphin bred and owned colt by 'Tiznow' is one of two entered by Mike Stidham, and the pair race uncoupled. A son of 'Street Sense,' he had traffic issues when finishing 4th while debuting here at this level and distance March 28. Stidham has won with 21 of 84 (25%) second-time starters since Jan. 1 of 2019, and this colt moves off the rail.
3rd pick: #2 (Food and Wine) (5-1) - A NEW gelding, he's been idle since early Sept. Another runner by 'War Front,' he finished 4th in both turf sprints during the late Summer and received a lot of betting support in each. Home-bred is from an under-rated barn (Tom Proctor) and is a factor if ready.
4th pick: #7 (Curlin's Thrill) (6-1) - No speed type has made up good ground in all three starts and runs today off a nine-week freshening and a private trainer change to Kevin Sweezey, who has gone 135-20-16-16 (15%) at this meet. A fast and/or contested pace would help this son of 'Curlin's' late-running style out.
