It was his first race since July 21 at Saratoga, his first as a gelding, and first at Tampa. Trainer Dale Bennett drops him into a claimer, adds blinkers, and this home bred gets top billing.
2nd pick: #5 (Puerto Varas) (5-2) - Away from action since Sept. 19, he returns a NEW gelding, and like 'Federale,' he's in a claimer for the first time. Well bred 3yo showed good speed in a series of three races on the all weather surface at Presque Isle Downs and has worked here four times since March 18. He should factor if ready.
3rd pick: #7 (Burl) (6-1) - Home-bred tired to check in a distant 4th debuting here at this level going 6.5 furlongs March 13. In the capable barn of the Illinois based Michele Boyce, the gelding can get a share with normal second out improvement.
