This colt had the position turning for home in last but just was out-kicked to the wire. The horse he beat two back returned to win the Jersey Derby, so he's been in with some tough horses. Working well for this, he's the horse to beat.

(# 1) Mysterious Peintre - Trouble in the stretch last out here cost him a shot at the win. He's an uncoupled stablemate of the top selection. Has some speed, a good post and goes third time Lasix. Fine record in France adds to the allure.

(# 6) La Neige - Ran and won impressively on Thursday, was claimed by Richard Dutrow no doubt with this race in mind. The figure earned puts him in the ballpark with the middle contenders in here. Dutrow has pulled this maneuver before, several times successfully (most notably in high claimers).

(# 8) Diamond Fever - Has progressed for Matz from maiden win four back, to stakes winner in latest. Working well here, he is a horse on improving each time he runs and is in good hands.
