Stalker will have a clear speed (#6 'Diversify') to stay right behind and enters off a 'nose' loss in the G1 Metropolitan Handicap going 8 furlongs June 9. Training steadily, he's won here in the past and has a fine record on wet tracks 4-2-1-1. He gets a very slim edge.
2nd pick: #6 (Diversify) (6-5) - The morning line and probable favorite, New York-bred enters off a smashing 6.5 length gate-to-wire score in Belmont's 10 furlong Suburban Handicap (G2) July 7. Working fast since speedster won here at this distance a year ago and earned a triple-digit figure in the process. I could have easily made him the top selections.
3rd pick: #2 (Backyard Heaven) (9-2) - Very lightly-raced colt tired at Churchill June 16 in the G1 Stephen Foster Handicap. 4yo had won three in a row prior to that and stalker has some fine works showing for this attempt. He broke his maiden on a wet surface Dec. 10 at Aqueduct and can factor today from his ground-saving post.
4th pick: #3 (Dalmore) (20-1) - Longshot is a steady performer facing weaker and I believe he's capable of possibly rounding out the tri and/or super if the pace is fast/and or contested.
