Top pick: #1 (RING WEEKEND) (7-2) - Following an impressive score in the "Tampa Bay Derby" (G2) in early March, he's been in some tough spots since that gate-to-wire score. Gelding by "Tapit" regained his best form here on July 18 when he finished second here in a $100K stakes on the grass. Working well since, speed/stalker has the rail, and I like his chances.
2nd pick: #7 (Smooth Daddy) (8-1) - Price play comes off a wire-to-wire win here going 8.5-furlongs facing weaker Aug. 18. Nice effort, and trainer Tom Albertrani is finishing this meet on a high note following a slow start.
3rd pick: #5 (Storm) (3-1) - New York bred has won three in a row on the grass for the Pletcher barn, and last out did so at this demanding distance in fast time (1:48.20). In career best form and Castellano stays aboard.
4th pick: #4 (Cabo Cat) (5-1) - Stakes winner was four lengths back of "Ring Weekend" last out, but appears to be the type that will appreciate the extra furlong he travels today. In shape, working nicely, and a stretch threat.
