With Irad Ortiz opting for the other Pletcher trained colt, Jose Lezcano gets aboard.
2nd pick: #6 (Dr Post) (2-1) - The 2nd of the Pletcher trained colts, he rallied to finish 3rd at Monmouth Park July 8 in the G1 Haskell. This $400K son of 'Quality Road had finished 2nd to 'Tiz the Law' in the Belmont Stakes (G1) June 20 and is an obvious win candidate.
3rd pick: #7 (Mystic Guide) (4-1) - No speed type has blinkers on in an attempt to get him a bit more involved in the early stages. A Godolphin home bred by 'Ghostzapper', he's been competitive in all four starts, is working fast at the Fair Hill Center, and a fast/and or contested pace would help his chances out.
4th pick: #5 (Celtic Striker) (20-1) - He appears to be the main speed and has proven in the past that if left alone in the first half-mile that he can be tough to get by. Longshot is working fine and it's always a plus when Joel Rosario takes a mount for the first time.
