Bet this race at Diamond SportsTop pick: #6 (HALLADAY) (2-1) - This 4yo speed/stalker from the Pletcher barn has been freshened up since winning three of four during the Winter/Spring in Florida. A son of 'War Front,' he's gone 10-5-2-2 on the grass, is 5-2-1-1 at this distance, and his outside draw in this small field will give Luis Saez early options. He gets a slight edge.
2nd pick: #2 (Good Governance) (9-5) - A very lightly raced 4yo, this English-bred has won two of three and missed by a 'neck' here last year in the Saranac Stakes (G3) in his only loss. An easy winner at Belmont June 26 in his first race in 10 months, I could have easily made him the top selection.
3rd pick: #3 (Somelikeithotbrown) (4-1) - 4yo by 'Big Brown' has been competitive in five of six on the grass, has won three stakes, and is 2-1-1-0 on the local turf. Like 'Halladay,' he has a speed/stalking style and must be left in the mix.
