Top pick: #5 (LAHINCH CLASSICS) (3-1) - Irish import finished 3rd of 11, beaten 2-lengths racing here at this level going a bit shorter July 24. Solid effort came off an 80-day break and trainer Chad Brown had her work a fast half-mile Aug 9. Speed/stalker is the horse to beat.
2nd pick: #8 (Trophee) (5-2) - French bred exits the same last race as 'Lahinch.' She raced very wide and closed strongly to only finish a long 'neck' behind that rival. In career best shape and I almost made her the top choice. A strong win candidate.
3rd pick: #2 (Gotachancetodance) (4-1) - Lightly-raced and improving, daughter of 'English Channel' has won two in a row, the latest coming here going shorter, facing weaker on July 29. From the Pletcher barn, she earned a career best figure and must be left in the mix.
4th pick: #3 (Rock Me Mama) (7-2) - She ships back fro Arlington where she was never involved in a G3 turf stakes July 11. Beaten a 'neck' in her previous race at Belmont, that contest was run at this level going 10-furlongs. Winless in seven starts on the grass, she fits with her best and trainer Mike Maker adds blinkers.
