Bet this race at Diamond SportsTop pick: #10 (CARRERA CAT) (9-2) - NOTE: This race has been taken 'off the turf'. This improving filly is racing third back following an 8.5 month layoff and is on the dirt for the first time. She has more early speed than most and gets top billing.
2nd pick: #7 (Mama Mary) (3-1) - She pressed a quick pace before weakening to finish fourth here at this level and distance on a sloppy surface July 23 in a contest that was taken 'off the turf'. Her trainer Joe Sharp is having a super meet at 6 for 14 (43%) and this lightly-raced filly is a strong win candidate and I could have easily made her the top selection.
3rd pick: #8 (St Edmonds Girl) (5-1) - She raced evenly after a very troubled beginning when debuting in a turf sprint at Belmont July 11. That was against 'open' company and this daughter of 'Freud' is from the barn of mid-Atlantic veteran Bob Reid.
4th pick: #9 (Dorothea's Dream) (10-1) - Six-year-old mare is racing for the first time since Oct. 10 of 2016. She has a new trainer (Jorge Abreu) and he's had her working steadily here since June 21. Home bred may hold down a share if ready.
