Bet this race at Diamond SportsTop pick: #5 (SOUTHERN UNION) (9-2) - One of two entered by trainer Bruce Brown, and the pair race uncoupled. Speed/stalker has improved noticeably since switching to the grass and gets a slight edge in a very competitive finale to the card.
2nd pick: #7 (Brooklyn Speights) (7-2) - Unraced since early November, he's working steadily for his return. Trainer Wesley Ward (34% off of long layoffs) is dropping him into a claimer (30%). Win candidate.
3rd pick: #3 (Street Fightin Man) (8-1) - Stalker is racing third back from a six-month layoff and is stretching back out in distance. He was only 2.5 lengths behind 'Southern Union' going seven furlongs at Belmont July 14 and will be a much bigger price than that rival.
4th pick: #9 (Bapu) (10-1) - Lightly raced 5yo has no early speed and breaks from a tough outside post. He has late kick, but will need a fast and/or contested pace for anything more than a minor award.
5th pick: #12 (Feets of Strength) (8-1) - Speedy home bred is dropping in class and is racing on the grass for the first time. Unraced since April 14, he's run well on the dirt and is bred to like the turf. His outside post is a negative, but his early speed is not.
