Top pick: #3 (TAKEOVER TARGET) (2-1) - He's one of three entered in this $300K stakes and they all race as separate betting interests. He rallied into a slow pace to win the local Hall of Fame Stakes (G2) going 8.5-furlongs Aug 7. This 1 1/8th mile distance suits his style and he missed by a 'neck' at this trip in a $220K stakes at Belmont May 30. Gets a slight edge.
2nd pick: #4 (Winter Spring) (8-1) - Another from Chad Brown, French import rallied while very wide to finish 4-lengths behind 'Takeover Target' here Aug 7. It was his first start in No. America and only his second overall since early November. He's worked twice since his latest and it's noted that Castellano is aboard.
3rd pick: #5 (Go Around) (7-2) - Lightly-raced home bred by 'Medglia d'Oro' was a sharp winner here in an entry-level allowance Aug 1. A career best and it came at this trip. Dangerous at a square price.
4th pick: #6 (Vision Perfect) (20-1) - A two-time stakes winner on the grass, he ran evenly in the same last race as several others. It was his first race since April 18 when he won a $100K race on the Aqueduct turf. Trainer Dave Donk has worked him three times since and he can factor with normal second-back improvement.
