Top pick: #5 (HARDENED WILDCAT) (2-1) - Gelding has been freshened up since late June when he finished second in the $100K "Lion Cavern" stakes at Belmont Park. Consistent sort likes to sit back and make one run, and there's lots of potential pace signed on to help that style out.
2nd pick: #3 (Candyman E) (4-1) - Amazingly consistent(16-7-2-3) for a lightly raced gelding that's nearing his seventh birthday. He has a new trainer (Mike Mariena, 32% with new arrivals), and he has this career sprinter working fast for this attempt.
3rd pick: #1 (Laurie's Rocket) (6-1) - Colt runs in most all of the non-graded sprints in the eastern half of the country, and has managed to hank $500K along the way. He tired badly here on "opening day" in the (G3) James Marvin stakes, but this group is a bit easier, and he can factor at a square price with his best.
4th pick: #2 (Right to Vote) (8-1) - Speedy sort likes this trip (4-2-0-2), and is capable of a big race, especially if he doesn't get in an early speed duel. If left alone until the 1/2 mile pole, he's a win candidate at long odds.
