Bet this race at Diamond SportsTop pick: #2 (MICROSECOND) (7-2) - This lightly raced gelding looked sharp when breaking his maiden here going a mile Aug. 12. It was his first ever on the grass and this speed/stalker from the barn of Todd Pletcher moves from the 11-post to the rail. The horse to beat.
2nd pick: #4 (Barleewon) (8-1) - A NEW gelding, he also broke his maiden going a mile which came at Belmont Park June 26. In his follow up here July 25 he tired after being involved in a spirited pace duel to miss by just under 6 lengths racing at this level and distance. This 3yo by 'Animal Kingdom' is a strong win candidate.
3rd pick: #3 (Good Old Boy) (5-1) - A 4-time winner facing weaker, he's been much improved of late going 5-3-2-0 since mid-May. One run type has enough positional speed to stay withing range and he's in the win mix with leading rider Irad Ortiz Jr getting aboard.
4th pick: #1 (Klickitat) (6-1) - This 4yo was an easy 4.5 length maiden here at this distance facing $40K state bred claimers Aug 7. He has a flexible style, but had the rail last out and moves to a difficult outside post for his first against winners. $220K purchase can factor if able to avoid a wide trip.
