Top pick: #3 (DOUBLE DOWN AGAIN) (8-1) - Veteran drops a bit after a pair of 4th place finishes at Belmont facing tougher. Stretch runner is nearing his best following a pair of layoffs and can take this with a trouble free trip.
2nd pick: #4 (Scatter Joy) (5-1) - Dangerous Monmouth invader has gone 15-7-2-3 in dirt sprints and was an impressive winner there over a good field May 31. In shape and the leading rider at Monmouth (Paco Lopez) is in for the ride.
3rd pick: #6 (Doc Almon) (4-1) - In top form at present, he rallied to finish 2nd at this level going 7-furlongs July 9. Very sharp since being claimed by Dave Jacobson for $50K in early April, he's a strong threat from off the pace.
4th pick: #8 (Pulling G's) (3-1) - Lightly raced, he's training fast locally for his first since June 6. He had some promise during the first half of 2014, but has yet to reproduce that form after a pair of layoffs.
