Top pick: #4 (THE IMPOSTOR) (6-1) - Price play has been freshened up since finishing 3rd at Belmont July 15 facing tougher and going longer. Trainer Jeremiah Englehart has enjoyed a 'dream' meet (10 for 39), and he has this stretch runner nicely spotted.
nd pick: #5 (Sidearm) (9-2) - He was an impressive come-from-behind winner here going six furlongs on the dirt Aug. 22nd. It was his first off a Gary Gullo claim, and he rallied into a rather soft pace. Barn moves him to the grass, has him in with tougher 'open' company, and Castellano stays aboard. Stretch threat.
rd pick: #8 (Blue Pigeon) (5-1) - Gelding rallied to finish at this tag and trip at Laurel July 25. It was his first off a private trainer switch to Linda Rice. Fits, but he'll need a fast and/or contested pace to make his late run count.
th pick: #2 (The Comish) (7-2) - Lightly raced 3yo chased and held down the place spot racing here at this tag and trip Aug. 15th. It earned him a career best 'figure' and he draws a post where he can save ground early. Late threat.
th pick: #1 (Dominic's Smile) (3-1) - He ships back from Monmouth where he ran evenly while encountering traffic issues Aug. 7th. Gelding had won two in a row on the Belmont turf prior to that, and speed/stalker breaks from the rail. Must be left in the mix.
