It was a career best overall and it came in his first race in 10 months. He won here a year ago and it's a big plus to see him making back-to-back starts.
2nd pick: #3 (Nubin Ridge) (6-1) - One of two entered by trainer Chris Englehart and the pair race uncoupled. Veteran sprinter drops in class following a wide and even effort in G3 stakes July 9 at Belmont. He's here in the past and is a threat if 'Proven Commodity' isn't up to the task.
3rd pick: #1 (Story to Tell) (5-1) - Stalker has been freshened up since June 11 for what will be his first start out of the state of California. He's gone 12-4-3-2 there sprinting on real dirt and was a stakes winner back in 2014.
4th pick: #6 (Mewannarose) (12-1) - The second of the Englehart pair, stalker is dropping down a bit after tiring in the Belmont mud facing tougher July 14. Stakes placed many times in the past, he fits with his best, and will be a big price.
