Top pick: #4 (GOMBEY DANCER) (7-2) - Colt just missed here at this condition on Aug. 3 in his first back from a two-month break. Lightly raced son of "Dixie Union" has always been highly thought of by trainer Tony Dutrow and 3-year-old had a very sharp work six days ago.
2nd pick: #1 (Googleado) (6-1) - Very speedy colt set a quick and pressured pace before tiring late to finish third here on Aug. 3. Argentine-bred breaks from the rail, is working fast, and shortens up a furlong.
3rd pick: #3 (Tenango) (9-2) - Hard-hitter has had a solid year (9-2-5-0) and is coming off a second-place finish here going 7 furlongs on Aug. 10. The cutback in distance will have him racing farther back than normal early on, but he should get a fast and/or contested pace to set up a late run.
4th pick: #6 (Justa Runner) (3-1) - California import from the Baffert barn was a sharp maiden winner when racing on the Hollywood "poly" on July 11th and has been training fast at Del Mar for his first facing winners, and first on conventional dirt.
5th pick: #10 (Dawly) (6-1) - His lack of any early speed, combined with an outside post should limit this consistent sort to a small award at a big price. His best shot would be for a total pace collapse.
