Top pick: #8 (RACE AND SHINE) (8-1) - Longshot is racing third back off a 5 1/2 month layoff and she's had excuses in both return starts. Strong finisher missed by a length two back at Belmont and did so despite a slow start and some serious traffic issues. In her latest she was forced into a very wide trip and raced evenly. It's nice to see Juan Ortiz stay aboard and this filly by "Stonesider" has a shot at a square price
nd pick: #7 (Tenacious Indeed) (6-1) - Lightly-raced filly has some early speed and will be dropping into a claimer and racing with blinkers on, both for the first time. She has room for upside and is another price play.
rd pick: #4 (Manner of Speaking) (5-2) - The probable favorite, she was competitive in both starts last fall at Belmont facing tougher. Home bred hasn't raced since Oct. 12 and will be dropping in class and will have Lasix administered for her come-backer.
th pick: #6 (Fire Ship) (7-2) - The number of starts are beginning to mount but this speed/stalker ran well here at this level July 21st. She had some trouble at the break and had to try and rally while wide. In the mix.
th pick: #9 (Make Your Point) (3-1) - Speedy sort ran a career best when she finished third here at this level July 21st. She finished just in front of "Fire Ship" that afternoon but moves from the rail to the nine-slot. Contender, but will be over-bet.
