Top pick: #5 (CHEROKEE SPEED) - Consistent runner raced evenly here on July 29th and is brought back quickly with the addition of blinkers by a very good turf barn (Jimmy Toner). He has experience at this difficult 1 1/8th mile trip and can take this at a square price.
2nd pick: #3 (Mystic) - Lightly raced son of "Unbridled's Song" impressend in his maiden win at Churchill May 23rd then had some traffic issues there on July 1st in his first facing winners. In the Mott barn, and his main-rider (Kent Desormeaux) takes the reins. Win threat.
3rd pick: #8 (Livin Large) - Improving with each start this New York-bred moves up to an entry-level allowance after beating a weaker starter-allowance field last out. Speed/stalker broke his maiden here last summer and then finished 2nd in a state-bred stakes on this surface. "Livin" looms LARGE in this field and is a win candidate.
