Bet this race at Diamond SportsTop pick: #3 (BRUISED ORANGE) (3-1) - Fast from the gate and lightly-raced, she missed by a 1/2 length June 19 at Belmont racing at this level going six furlongs on the grass. A career best, it came in her second start back from a 6.5 month layoff. Training fast locally, she missed by a 'neck' here a year ago facing males in a grass stakes at this distance.
2nd pick: #11 (Britannia Penny) (6-1) - Woodbine shipper will be facing winners for the first time. Four-year-old was an easy 5.5 length maiden winer going 6.5 furlongs on the all-weather surface in Canada July 8. By far a career best, she has excellent early speed and the outside post in grass sprints at Saratoga is a big positive. Can factor at a square price.
3rd pick: #10 (Firsthand Report) (5-1) - Daughter of 'Blame' cost $310,000 and will be cutting back in distance and racing on the grass for the first time. Speed/stalker is in the Pletcher barn and is bred to handle the turf. Hall of Fame trainer is adding blinkers, a 21% move by him.
4th pick: #8 (Orient Harbor) (10-1) - No-speed type almost always makes a late run, but runs out of ground on a consistent basis. Her style is a minus along with the big field. However, she should get a fast and/or contested pace to close into and may grab a share if able to avoid any traffic issues while racing far back most of the way.
