Top pick: #5 (LADY KRESSA) (4-1) - Lightly raced and still improving, home bred has gone 3-1-1-1 all this year on the Belmont grass. Daughter of "Stonesider" finished third last out in a 4100K stakes won by today's rival "Old Harbor." She was 4 1/2 back of her at the finish, but had a wide trip while chasing a swift pace. That filly had an experience edge on her and she has a solid shot at reversing that decision with blinkers on.
nd pick: #6 (Old Harbor) (5-2) - The probable heavy favorite, she was a winner of a seven-furlong stakes last out at Belmont. Strong finisher had a good trip that day and proved decisively best. The "figure" earned was the highest any of these has attained and she's an obvious win candidate.
rd pick: #2 (Takeoff Your Hat) (5-1) - Believe she's the third member of this group that's capable of winning this. Grey daughter from the first crop of "Cosmonaut" has a speed/stalking style and has an excellent grass record (6-2-1-2). Freshened up since May 18, she's a big threat if ready with her "A" game.
th pick: #8 (Missy Bay) (8-1) - Filly rallied while wide to check in fourth in the same stakes at Belmont that both "Kressa" & "Harbor" exit. One paced type finished within range (5 1/2 lengths)and trainer Dom Schettino adds blinkers. Can grab a small share at a big price.
th pick: #9 (Selenite) (10-1) - Another daughter of "Cosmonaut," she's flashed good talent several times but has done so on an inconsistent basis. Fits with her best and a fast and/or contested pace would help her prospects out.
