Bet this race at Diamond SportsTop pick: #7 (CHECKSANDBALANCES) (3-1) - This Irish import had a very wide trip when missing by 3.5 lengths when debuting at Belmont going a mile for a $75K tag on June 21. The filly was bet down to 2-1 favoritism, and trainer Chad Brown, 35% second time out, drops her to race for a $40K claiming price this afternoon. She gets top billing.
2nd pick: #5 (More Mango) (9-2) - Daughter of 'More Than Ready' finished 3rd of 12, missing by just over a length at this level going a mile at Belmont June 14. Only her second start, it was her first off almost a 100-day layoff, and she runs today fresh off a Mike Maker claim. He's adding blinkers, and this filly is a strong win candidate.
3rd pick: #8 (Valetta) (12-1) - Well-bred filly was sold privately following a pair of starts on the Churchill dirt. She raced both wide and evenly sprinting here July 16 for her new connections, and they drop her into a claimer, switch her to the grass, and stretch her back out in distance. This daughter of 'Into Mischief' ran well this winter on the Gulfstream turf and is dangerous at a big price.
4th pick: #1 (Claddagh's Run) (5-1) - This lightly raced 4yo is coupled in the wagering with 1a-'Hard Won' due to common ownership. On the sidelines for 13.5 months, she missed by a 1/2-length at this level and distance when last in action at Belmont June 16 of 2019. Training well, she may get a share if ready.
