This colt by 'Harlan's Holiday' cost $375,000 last fall and is working sharply for trainer Chad Brown. He wins at a 19% rate first out and has won 94 of 301 (31%) over the past 19.5 months when riding Javier Castellano.
2nd pick: #8 (One Liner) (3-1) - From the Pletcher barn (19% first out), this colt's works have picked up in intensity as he nears his debut. His last pair on the local training track have been swift half-mile breezes from the gate. It's noted that John Velazquez, Pletcher's long time main rider, is aboard.
3rd pick: #1 (ConquestReformo) (4-1) - One of only three with racing experience, he rallied to finish second when debuting at this level going 4.5 furlongs at Churchill Downs June 16. He's worked twice since, has the rail, and trainer Mark Casse is having a very strong year on several fronts.
4th pick: #9 (Johnny Obvious) (20-1) - Longshot is from a very capable mid-west based barn (Ron Moquette), This colt ships in from Churchill Downs where three of his last four works have been on the quick side. May be ready to contend at a big price.
