Top pick: #4 (REGIA MARIA) (5-2) - Since a troubled debut in late January at Gulfstream Park, this home bred by 'Medaglia d'Oro' has gone 4-0-3-1. Stalker has finished second in three straight, the latest coming here at this level and distance on a sloppy track July 30. She's worked since and is the horse to beat.
2nd pick: #2 (Playtime) (10-1) - Daughter of 'Street Cry' is from the same trainer (Tom Albertrani) as 'Regia Maria" and the pair race un-coupled. Lightly-raced and improving, 3-year-old draws the rail for her first attempt at a 2-turn distance. a 'live' long shot.
3rd pick: #6 (Prospector's Moon) (8-1) - Another longshot, $350K filly by 'Malibu Moon' has raced evenly in her first pair going 6-furlongs. Bred to like this longer trip and she no doubt has more talent than shown to date.
4th pick: #7 (Carrumba) (9-5) - The morning line favorite, Phipp's home bred rallied furiously to just miss when debuting at Belmont going 6.5-furlongs June 4. Heavily favored in her follow up start here July 26 going 7/8ths, she rallied to miss by just under a length. There was no visible excuse, but the winner that day got away with easy fractions in a gate-to-wire score. Bred to like this distance, she's an obvious factor, but holds no real advantage at a short price.
