Top pick: #8 (KACY LAUREN) (3-1) - The probable favorite, filly has finished second in two of three starts facing tougher since switching to the grass in late April. Trainer Chad Brown is dropping her into a claimer for the first time and stretching her out in distance after a pair of 7-furlong contests.
2nd pick: #5 (Mohawk Lily) (10-1) - Speedy filly is one of two entered by trainer Leah Gyarmati and the pair race uncoupled. 3-year-old was only beaten 2 1/2 lengths on the Belmont turf at this level May 22, then finished second in a follow up start that was switched to the main track. Think she'll be in this from start-to-finish at a square price.
3rd pick: #4 (Little Mary Ellen) (6-1) - Filly always has a good spot to strike from turning for home but has a bit of 'hang' in her. She finished fourth of 12 here July 24 and was only beaten 2-lengths. Very dangerous and that local attempt is a big plus.
4th pick: #3 (Quibbler) (7-2) - Very lightly-raced daughter of 'Bellamy Road' enters off a close up third-place finish at Belmont July 19. Claimed that day by Bruce Levine for $40K, new barn wins at a 25% clip first off the stable switch. Both blinkers and Castellano are added. In the mix.
