Bet this race at Diamond SportsTop pick: #8 (SWEET KISSES) (3-1) - A $290,000 yearling purchase last October, she finished second when debuting June 12 at Belmont going 5 furlongs at this level. Filly battled on the inside through fast fractions with the eventual 4.5 length winner and stayed on gamely for the place. She's worked three times since while trainer Jeremiah Englehart is off to a good start here 12-2-2-3. I give her a slight edge.
2nd pick: #7 (Mrs Danvers) (7-2) - A home bred daughter of 'Tapit', she drilled a bullet half-mile in :46.20 at Keeneland June 21, best of 81 at he distance that morning. Hall of Fame member 'Shug' McGaughey is capable of having one ready first out and he has Joel Rosraio aboard.
3rd pick: #6 (Finite) (5-2) - From the barn of Steve Asmussen (22% first out), this filly was bought back for $200K by her breeder when she failed to meet her reserve price. She has some impressive works showing, including a sharp half-mile gate breeze June 26 at Keeneland. A win candidate.
4th pick: #4 (Inveterate) (8-1) - Filly by 'Palace Malice' has been working steadily at Belmont for her debut since early June. The best of those was a bullet 3 furlongs June 23 and her trainer, Dermot Magner, had a first-timer win during the Belmont meet.
