Top pick: #10 (STORMIN STEPHEN) (3-1) - He's shown some early speed in both starts on the dirt, and trainer Chris Clement moves him to the grass for the first time. Colt continues to work fast and he meets a largely untested group.
2nd pick: #2 (Ordinaire) (5-1) - He finished almost a length better than 'Stormin Stephen' when debuting here on a 'sloppy' surface July 30. A useful first outing, trainer Jimmy Jerkens switches him to the grass and adds blinkers.
3rd pick: #4 (Championofthenile) (2-1) - He's one of two entered by trainer Linda Rice, and the pair race uncoupled. He's by 'American Pharoah's' sire 'Pioneer of the Nile' and cost $840,000 this past May. Working above average, he's an obvious contender, but will most certainly be over-bet.
4th pick: #9 (Majority) (8-1) - Barn (Rick Violette, Jr.) excels with debuting runners (12 for his last 34, 36%). Gelding is working above average and had a bullet 3-furlong breeze here Aug. 13th.
5th pick: #8 (Giggy Smith) (20-1) - Longshot showed nothing when debuting here in the same July 30 contest common to several others. He had a tough inside post on a 'sloppy' track and basically was just given an educational run. May grab a minor award at a big price in the switch to the grass.
