Bet this race at Diamond SportsTop pick: #7 (MUTASAABEQ) (2-1) - This race features a pair of debuting runners from top sire 'Into Mischief,' one each from Todd Pletcher and Chad Brown. This colt sold for $425,000 as a weanling back in Nov. of 2018 and has been working very fast for his debut. Pletcher has won with 47 of 214 (22%) first-time-starters in 2019-20, and I give this one a slight edge.
2nd pick: #6 (Bottle Rocket Man) (5-2) - This colt from the Chad Brown barn sold for $350,000 as a yearling in Sept. of last year at Keeneland. Brown wins at a 22% rate first out, and this colt worked a quick five furlongs from the gate here July 26.
3rd pick: #2 (American Gentleman) (10-1) - A $240,000 son of 'American Pharoah,' he tired after rushing up after a bit of a troubled break when debuting here at this distance on the grass July 26. Trainer Ray Handal, who is having a solid meet, brings him back quickly while switching him to the dirt. The longshot is capable of factoring at a big price.
4th pick: #3 (Raise the Rent) (8-1) - A son of 'Malibu Moon,' he's from the Rudy Rodriguez barn, and he worked a bullet three furlongs in 00:35 flat July 12 on the training track at Belmont. It's noted that Joel Rosario is aboard.
