Top pick: #7 (BOMBER BOY) - $200,000 colt by "Bernardini" has fine early speed and tired last out to finish a distant 3rd at Belmont June 18 to promising "Raison d'Tat". Trainer Nick Zito has freshened him up since that contest and he'll shorten him up in distance and add blinkers. 3yo is working very fast locally for this and has recorded training track bullets in 4 of his last 5 works. The horse to beat.
2nd pick: #4 (Dream Steeler) - Nice debut at Churchill July 4th saw this 4yo chase a fast pace while wide and weaken in the last 1/16th to finish 4th of 12, beaten three lengths. Gelding by "Unbridled's Song" has a solid local drill on the 23rd and looks like a win candidate.
3rd pick: #8 (Five Sigma Event) - He finished an even 3rd at Belmont July 2nd in his first race since Feb 13th. Has a pair of fine local drills, good positional speed, and a nice outside post at this distance.
4th pick: #10 (Karma Shield) - He only cost a $1000 so anything he does is a real bargain. He's been competitive in all 5 starts, including his lates at Churchill July 4 at this 7 furlong trip. Stalker draws a good post for his style and will probably be a big price facing many others with "blue blood" breeding.
