Stalker was victorious on June 22 at Belmont in a 4100K contest going seven-furlongs and is training nicely locally for trainer Linda Rice. Broman home bred gets a slight edge on paper.
2nd pick: #5 (Free Mugatu) (3-1) - He just missed facing "Mark My Way" at Belmont in what was his first ever on the grass. He followed that up with a second place finish racing on the Finger Lakes dirt in the $161k "New York Derby" and came back with a bullet three-furlong breeze here July 22. Strong win candidate.
3rd pick: #4 (Mental Iceberg) (4-1) - He's been freshened up since May 22 when he tired while wide chasing the pace in a nine-furlong contest at Belmont Park. He won his debut on the Belmont grass last fall and is a stretch threat in this spot. Has a shot if the pace is fast and/or contested, but the top two picks are more than likely to win this.
4th pick: #6 (Forever Utopia) (12-1) - He fits on "figures" and is working fast for this attempt. The field's only maiden, he's finished second in four of six on the grass and has a chance at big price.
