Top pick: #3 (QUEENS OR BETTER) - The small barn of trainer John Morrison does a fine job with what it has and this filly has improved noticeably since moving to the grass. She finished second last out after setting the pace in a 6 furlong contest at Belmont July 10 and this 5.5 furlong trip should be just right. The horse to beat.
2nd pick: #4 (Blue Sixty Four) - Daughter of "Artax" is training well for her debut and owner/trainer veteran Leo O'Brien gives a "leg up" to son in law John Velazquez for this filly's initial outing. She has a nice turf work four days ago and meets a weak field today.
3rd pick: #2 (August Gala) - Longshot has shown nothing in 5 starts, but they've all come facing tougher fields. Cuts back in distance and local home-bred may factor at a huge price.
4th pick: #10 (City Vice) - This is start No. 32 and this mare ran poorly in her latest, but had been competitive in four straight at this level at Belmont. Can be in this with her "A" game.
