Top pick: #1 (DERVISH PRINCE) - He has a pedigree from another era, being by "Cozzene" out of a mare by Island Whirl. Grey colt has shown fine early speed in both his grass races and each has come facing special weights. Trainer Nick Zito drops him into a claimer and and this 3-year-old moves from the 12 post last out at Belmont to the rail.
2nd pick: #8 (Street Ballad) - Another dropping into a claimer for the first time and this $250K son of "Street Sense" will also have lasix added by trainer Jimmy Jerkens. Think he'll be compettiive at a square price.
3rd pick: #3 (Sokitumi Samurai) - Colt races first off a claim by veteran John Parisella and he immediately moves this son of "First Samurai" to the grass. He's been competitive in 5-of-7 appearances and has a speed/stalking style.
4th pick: #5 (Superestrella) - Colt was claimed in early April by Dom Schettino for $50,000 and and was sent in for a 70 day break at that time. 4-year-old by "Storm Cat" has raced evenly in a pair of starts at this level since returning and improved a bit last out when he finished fourth at Belmont.
