Bet this race at Diamond SportsTop pick: #8 (BAD BOY) (3-1) - He enters off a wide effort that saw him miss by almost three lengths facing tougher going 8.5 furlongs July 4 at Belmont. It was his first back from a two-month freshening and he's stretching out a bit while dropping into a claimer. I like his chances.
2nd pick: #2 (Skywriting) (6-1) - A $425K son of 'Super Saver,' he's racing on the grass for the first time and does so off a Linda Rice claim for $50K June 29 at Belmont. This colt has early speed, draws well, is bred to handle the turf, and Rice has won with 23 of 85 (28%) first off the claim in 2018-19.
3rd pick: #6 (Heirloom Kitten) (8-1) - A Ramsey home bred by 'Kitten's Joy,' he's finished 4th in both starts at Churchill, each in 'off the turf' contests at 8.5 furlongs on sloppy tracks. Bred to love the grass and this nine-furlong trip, trainer Dan Gargan, 10-3-1-4 at the meet, drops him into a claimer and Irad Ortiz, Jr. is aboard.
4th pick: #5 (Crypto Gold) (8-1) - He's from the same barn (Linda Rice) as 'Skywriting' and like that runner, he goes first off a claim. Well bred colt has positive experience on the grass in the past, and this son of 'Medaglia d'Oro' should love today's nine-furlong distance.
