He broke his maiden here at this 7-furlong trip here early last August and finished fourth in a G3 stakes at it April 7 at Keeneland. With the late scratch of # 7 'Wonderful Light' he becomes the main speed in this contest.
2nd pick: #3 (Awesome Slew) (4-5) - Clearly the class' of the field, multiple stakes winner has banked nearly $1,200,000 and strong finisher has a fine record at this distance 6-1-4-1. Working fast, he's the heavy favorite and I could have easily made him the top selection.
3rd pick: #4 (Rally Cry) (5-2) - On the sidelines since early October, he has plenty of talent but all of his success has come at longer distances. Five-year-old by 'Uncle Mo' has been in steady training here since early June with two of his last three breezes being on the quick side. Capable, but think he may need a race off the layoff before being at his best.
