Top pick: #3 (RIVER ROCKS) (6-5) - Clearly the main speed, this lightly raced colt has won two in a row heading into this attempt. 4yo was an impressive gate-to-wire winner here on a sloppy surface going seven-furlongs July 27, and that earned him a career best figure. He moves up a bit in class, but is working fast and is the horse to beat.
2nd pick: #5 (Candyman E) (4-1) - One of two in this small field entered by trainer Dave Jacobson, and the pair race uncoupled. A multiple stakes winner, he's dropping in class after going 7-3-0-1 in a series of sprint stakes dating back to last October. He ships from Monmouth in shape, and veteran likes this trip (4-1-2-1).
3rd pick: #1 (Salutos Amigos) (5-2) - The second of the Jacobson pair, he's been freshened up since early July when he finished a solid third in the G3 "Belmont Sprint." Only a "neck" back of "Palace" that afternoon, and that hard-hitter has since returned to win a pair of stakes at this meet including yesterday's G1 "Forego." One run type has the rail, is two for three at this distance, and his chances rest with whether his barn-mate can make "River Rocks" run hard early.
