Top pick: #5 (GNARLEY GIRL) (4-1) - Lightly raced filly had a tough trip when sprinting here on the grass at this level Aug. 4th. Grey daughter of "Dehere" was racing off a two month break, and has since come back with a blazing half-mile breeze eight days ago. Trainer Tony Dutrow moves her back to the dirt, and she can win this at a square price.
2nd pick: #6 (Ol Donyo) (5-2) - The probable favorite, filly by "Curlin" ships up from Monmouth where she finished a distant second in a small stakes to a filly who was winning her fifth in a row. Speed/stalker draws a nice outside post, and is 3-1-2-0 racing on the dirt. Win candidate.
3rd pick: #3 (Merry Meadow) (4-1) - Hard-hitting type has been freshened up since breaking her maiden at Belmont on July 15, going seven furlongs. That was a career best, and ran her record to 11-1-6-3, all on the dirt. Can factor today.
4th pick: #2 (Elusive Act) (3-1) - Three-time winner runs first off a Mike Maker re-claim, and he paid up an additional $5000 to get her back for the leading owners at this meet (Ken & Sarah Ramsey). She has a flexible style, and is the only filly entered with a local win.
