Top pick: #1 (W.W. LADY'S MAN) - Speed/stalker has a fine overall record (18-4-5-2) and comes into this off a pace-setting second-place finish racing for $25K just six days ago. Runs back quickly, drops in price, and those are two of trainer Rudy Rodriguez's winning angles. Has the rail, Dominguez stays put, and he's the horse to beat.
2nd pick: #7 (Hero Figure) - Probably has more speed than the top pick and he also has a strong effort over the surface. Racing for $20K July 30 he set a fast pace and held gamely for the place spot. Runs third off a long layoff, is a win candidate, and I almost put him on top.
3rd pick: #3 (Turnpike Token) - Finger Lakes shipper has finished second in three of five 2011 starts, but was no match for "Hero" when finishing almost 6 lengths behind him July 8. Has a nice work before heading here and jockey John Graboski comes in for the ride. Maybe get a minor award at a big price.
