Bet this race at Diamond SportsTop pick: #1 (OLENDON) (2-1) - This French import has finished 2nd in both grass sprints since coming off a 7.5-month layoff May 30. The latest saw her miss by a 'neck' here at this level and distance July 17. From the barn of Chad Brown, the 4yo stalker has a ground-saving post, and Irad Ortiz, Jr. stays aboard. The horse to beat.
2nd pick: #2 (Kitten's Covergirl) (8-1) - This longshot fires the same figure in most of her starts, and it's not far off the best that 'Olendon' can produce. A 5yo mare by 'Kitten's Joy,' she's capable at the level and distance and is dangerous at a square price.
3rd pick: #7 (Turf War) (5-2) - A lightly raced daughter of 'War Front,' she rallied to finish 3rd here July 17 and was only a bit over a length behind 'Olendon.' It was her first race in nine months and is a threat with just a bit of improvement.
4th pick: #9 (Palace Avenger) (5-1) - One of two 3yos entered, she was a determined winner here by a 1/2 length when going six furlongs on the dirt in a first-level allowance July 16. Much improved in her two starts back after returning from almost a seven-month layoff May 24, she's working fast and will be racing on the grass for the first time. A sophomore by 'Palace,' she's in the mix if able to handle the surface switch.
