Bet this race at Diamond SportsTop pick: #7 (MONEY IN THE BANK) (7-2) - This lightly raced homebred finished 2nd at this level going six furlongs at Belmont Park June 13. It was his first race since late August of last year and his first-ever facing fellow New York-breds. I give him a slight edge.
2nd pick: #2 (Fluent in Scarcasm) (2-1) - The morning line and probable favorite, he tired late after pressing a fast pace to miss by just over two lengths here at this level and distance July 30. The 3yo draws a much better post, has Irad Ortiz, Jr. staying aboard, and is a very strong win candidate.
3rd pick: #4 (Daring Disguise) (3-1) - Another 4yo, he finished 2nd at this level going seven furlongs at Belmont July 5 in his second start back following an eight-month layoff. Trainer Jim Bond, 6 for 22 (27%) at the meeting, shortens him up in distance, and this homebred must be left in the mix.
4th pick: #6 (Shandian) (15-1) - He missed by almost five lengths here facing tougher July 26. He drops down, but he has already been defeated multiple times at this level. I believe a minor award at a big price is his ceiling.
