Top pick: #1 (Entry of 1-EA and 1a-SO SCOTT) (7-5) - They always run a couple of these two mile marathons at this meet and this contest has a strong entry from trainer Dave Jacobson. "EA" is the type that can "run all day" and will be going second off a pair of layoffs. Eleven-time winner handles "off" going and is 4-2-1-0 on this surface. "So Scott" is in the best current form of any entered, has a fine "wet" track record, and is a strong win candidate.
2nd pick: #5 (Regal Warrior) (5-2) - Veteran has plenty of back class and is working sharply here for his first start since May 22nd. Gelding doesn't win very often (3-for-41), but has twenty minor placings in those appearances.
3rd pick: #6 (Le Deluge) (8-1) - He's the only horse entered who has won at this two-mile distance in the past and never gets tired. Fits, is racing back into shape, and can factor at a square price.
4th pick: #2 (State Flag) (3-1) - From the dangerous barn of Mike Maker, well-bred gelding is another that never tires and is bred to handle this 16-furlong trip. However, he's never raced on real dirt before, and "off" going is expected.
