Bet this race at Diamond SportsTop pick: #5 (MAYBRY'S CONQUEST) (5-2) - Lightly-raced grey filly looked home free last out when she swerved to the left and hit the rail while holding a daylight lead. That caused her to stumble badly and she was eased under the wire. Trainer George Weaver brings her back six weeks later, has her in at the same level, and has breezed her three times since. Gets a slight edge.
2nd pick: #6 (Tough Temper) (4-1) - Blinkers go on filly who weakened late to be beaten just over two lengths racing at Belmont at this level July 4. She was involved that day from gate to wire in her first in a claimer and second back from a half-year's absence. A career best, her trainer (Jeremiah Englehart) has already won three races at this young meet and he wins at an excellent 27% rate when adding blinkers.
3rd pick: #1 (Champagne Therapy) (10-1) - Filly chased before weakening late racing at this level June 18 at Belmont Park. It was her first start in five months and first ever on the grass. She's worked fast since, has the rail, and leading rider Irad Ortiz Jr. sticks with this longshot.
4th pick: #9 (Cats Halo) (12-1) - Filly is dropping back down and is moving from dirt to grass. The only other time she raced at this $40K claiming price she finished second beaten a length sprinting on the main track at Aqueduct April 7.
