Top pick: #4 (FIRST BID) (3-1) - Gelding raced wide and evenly while having some traffic issues when facing tougher on the grass here July 20th. It was his first since late Dec., a positive effort, and trainer Chad Brown will drop him in class and switch him to the dirt.
2nd pick: #5 (Aggrandizement) (6-1) - Price play showed some speed when facing better here on a sloppy surface at this distsnce July 31st. Trainer Nick Zito has him racing third off a 4 1/2 month layoff and will drop this $300K purchase into a claimer for the first time.
3rd pick: #1a (Mischievously) (5-1) - Claimed on July 3rd at Belmont by trainer Linda Rice for $40K, she's had him on the sidelines since that time. Son of "Indian Charlie" had been racing evenly in most of his starts and has been backed at the windows several times.
4th pick: #3 (Identity Crisis) - No-speed type exits the same turf race as "First Bid" and he was never involved that day after breaking from a tough outside post. Drops, goes turf to dirt, and he's bred to love this long distance on the dirt. The faster the pace, the better his chances.
