Top pick: #6 (GIANTINTHEMOONLITE) (2-1) - Colt was reported to be a runner before debuting at Belmont on May 16, and home bred by "Giant's Causeway" was the easiest kind of winner while paying $9.40. Working well for his return, and trainer Bruce Brown has Castellano aboard for this assignment.
2nd pick: #7 (Cuantos) (9-5) - Colt broke his maiden here by almost five lengths while running this six-furlong distance in 1:09.80 July 21. The "figure" earned was impressive, and this son of "Read the Footnotes" has been working fast since. An obvious win candidate.
3rd pick: #2 (Swell) (3-1) - Lightly raced gelding rallied to finish second racing at this level and distance at Aqueduct April 26. It was his first back from a five-month break and a career best overall. Good small barn (Peter Pugh) put him in a stakes next out, and 3yo raced evenly after a wide & troubled trip. Working fast locally, and he must be left in the mix.
4th pick: #1 (Say Mr. Sandman) (10-1) - Veteran has more lifetime wins (seven) than the rest of this field combined (six). However, he's always found this level too tough, and a small slice at a square price would appear to be his ceiling.
