Bet this race at Diamond SportsTop pick: #3 (CALDERA) (6-1) - Longshot is stretching back out in distance after rallying to finish 4th here going 8.5 furlongs Aug. 12th. He had an outside post that day, and the shorter trip led to a very wide journey. He has a much better starting slot and seems to prefer these longer distances. I like his chances.
2nd pick: #7 (Richmond Street) (5-2) - He's one of two entered by trainer Bill Mott, and the pair race uncoupled. Colt by 'Street Cry' rallied to finish 2nd here July 30 and was ahead of 'Caldera' that afternoon. In his previous start at Belmont, that rival was in front of him on the wire. Contends today.
3rd pick: #4 (Acoustic) (8-1) - The second of the Mott trained pair, Juddmonte home bred has raced evenly in both starts since coming back from 10 months on the sidelines July 9. Son of 'Tapit' has finished behind both 'Caldera' and 'Richmond Street' in his return pair, but the margins were of a reasonable range. May factor at a square price.
4th pick: #5 (Sadler's Joy) (3-1) - Son of top grass sire 'Kitten's Joy' is the type that appears to be able to 'run all day.' He's made up considerable ground in his last pair, but was extremely far back in the first half-mile of each. A quick and/or contested pace would help his chances.
