Speedy sort is racing third back from a 12 1/2 month layoff and Hall of Famer Bill Mott will drop her into a claimer for the first time.
2nd pick: #1 (Di Lissa) (10-1) - Longshot has been freshened up since July 5th when she tired facing tougher on the Belmont grass. She's working nicely for this and as is usual, trainer Michelle Nevin is doing well from her smallish barn (14-4-3-0). Well bred filly drops back down in class, goes turf to dirt, and cuts back in distance.
3rd pick: #6 (Status) (5-1) - Pompa home bred raced both wide and evenly when debuting against special weights on the Belmont lawn last October. Daughter of Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner "Big Brown" is working steadily for her return and had a fine half-mile breeze here Aug. 10.
4th pick: #3 (Unrepented) (15-1) - Lasix and blinkers are added to filly who ran evenly here in a turf sprint when debuting on Aug. 7. Daughter of "Repent" is brought back quickly, drops in class, goes turf to dirt, and stretches out in distance.
